Adventures to Grow Coming To A Blog Near You
Are you single but still want to travel? Do you talk yourself out of doing a lot of things because you don’t have a companion to go with you. I did this for years. But if you have an explorer’s heart, you won’t be happy until you take that first step out of your comfort zone and start living an adventurous life. I finally learned how to break free of my fears and I want to share how I did it with you. Adventures to Grow is here to build your confidence and empower you to discover all the magic that is out there waiting for you.
Being single doesn’t have to suck. Though it’s nice to have a built-in traveling companion when you both enjoy the same things, it doesn’t have to be the end of your adventures if you’re on your own. Maybe you’re married but your partner can’t or doesn’t want to go with you. Ask around, you never know who may want to go with you.
What If Everyone I Know Says, “No”?
Don’t take it personal when everyone you ask says, “No.” Everyone has to make choices and it’s okay if it’s not your adventure they choose. Don’t sacrifice your life of adventure waiting on someone else to go with you.
I am not super comfortable taking off by myself, especially, to foreign countries but when I couldn’t find anyone to go with me, I decided to not let that stop me. This year I booked two trips, a cruise to Mexico and a trip to Denmark. I am going to share what I learn as I go and I hope it helps you step out there and grab up a new adventure. It didn’t happen overnight. I have been building up to this for decades but you don’t have to wait that long.
My First Cruise As A Solo Traveler
As a solo traveler cruises can seem a little overwhelming at first. I just got back from my very first 7 day cruise AND my first time traveling to Mexico and Honduras. It was an amazing trip and I can not wait to do it again.
$$$
First of all, if you think cruising is expensive, I want to tell you right up front that it is about the most affordable way to take an adventure because everything you need is included! You can spend a lot more money on the ship or at port if you want, but you do not have to.
Since you don’t have to coordinate with anyone else when you travel alone, you can nab a really great deal on a cruise a few weeks before sailing. When the cruise lines are trying to fill up their empty cabins, the cost of staterooms are super cheap. Maybe you can’t afford both a cruise and a trip to Scandinavia in one year but with a little ingenuity you can scrape together enough to take at least one.
Future Tips for Solo Travelers
My Tips for Solo Travelers will be coming your way weekly to help you navigate the sea of adventure and beyond. I will be sharing what I learn on these trips. If a little voice in your head is screaming, “there is no way I can leave the comfort of my own home” but your heart is screaming, “let’s go already,” keep reading.
What If I Suffer From Social Anxiety?
As someone who suffered for decades with social anxiety, I understand the struggle. In addition to tips for my big adventures this year, I will be sharing some of the mini-challenges I took on to build my confidence. These challenges prepared me to show up at the Port of Galveston alone at a strange motel and even get a good night’s sleep before my cruise. You got this! Let’s go on an adventure to grow together!!
Your First Challenge
Your first challenge is easy. Head down to the local post office or CVS and get that headshot for your passport application. Click the link below to get your application started. Have your passport in hand because you never know when that opportunity to travel to a foreign land will come up. Who knows, maybe a friend will ask you to go with them. Be Ready!
