Last month I posted about Good Fuel, sounds simple right? To be healthy, eat what is good for you and your body will do the rest. It is simple: put good food in your mouth, don’t put bad food in your mouth. “Then, why is it so hard?” she screams.
I spend my day trying to develop systems to make this easier. Not even easier, just make it happen. Having a house full of children who love to cook and eat great food is not helping. One night we had your choice of brats, stuffed burgers, or steak with a side of baked beans, twice baked potatoes, salad, and all the fresh tomatoes you could want. It was tempting but I did limit my plate to one hamburger, a few potato slices, beans, and a salad. However, I did not skip the cheesecake for dessert. Now that everyone has left I am trying to resize, not only my dress size but my plate size.
Probably the greatest purchase I have made lately is the Ninja Kitchen System with Auto-iQ Boost (BL494). What an amazing machine. I was actually looking for a frozen drink concoction maker to make frozen Daiquiri’s when the kids come down. I was considering the Margaritaville Tahiti Frozen Concoction Maker, DM3000 but am so happy I went with the Ninja. Not only does the Ninja make wonderful frozen drinks with the fluffy, smooth icy goodness you expect from a Tiki bar on Key Largo, but it does so much more.
We made the best frozen drinks using both the large pitcher and the Nutri-cups. The grandgirls loved drinking Strawberry Daiquiri’s out of fancy glasses with the adults (they did not have rum in them). A pitcher full serves 4-5 with some left over to fill the girls’ glasses. We had berry smoothies for breakfast using the nutri-cups perfect for single servings. They were a little loud for those trying to sleep in but I love the fact I can turn it on and walk away. The Auto-IQ cycles through its routine and shuts off automatically. When I return to the kitchen my breakfast is ready! And there is much more!
I’ve been experimenting with the slicing and shredding blades and just discovered a blade that is going to replace my handheld spiralizer. Check out this clip and see how easy it is!! ‘My Ninja Noodle Experiment” This blade makes the best noodles from any type of squash you have on hand. My first experiment turned out amazing, an eggplant (from my tower garden) spaghetti with meatballs. I took the Ninja’s slicing blade and flipped it over and got the perfect noodles for eggplant spaghetti.
Warm up some olive oil, dump in your noodles, and saute on medium heat for about five minutes. I topped mine with Marinara sauce, Italian meatballs, and Parmesan cheese. If you like squash, you will love the Ninja Noodles!
I know this sounds like a sales pitch but it’s not meant to. Although your click throughs are greatly appreciated and disclosure: I do get a percentage of anything you purchase at Amazon after you click through my links, I am only sharing this with you because this will make your life easier. You won’t hurt my feelings if you go to Sam’s Club and get your Ninja System like I did…LOL! I got the entire Ninja System and two nutri-cups with lids for $179.
If you are trying to decide on a new nutri-blender or frozen concoction maker, I would highly recommend this versatile machine. It is one of only two appliances that now have a permanent place on my counter top. The other is my Electric Kettle for brewing hot water for my tea. I use them both everyday. No buyer’s remorse here . The Ninja Kitchen System with Auto-iQ Boost (BL494) has motivated me to eat healthier because it makes it so easy. I hope you don’t get tired of it but I will probably be sharing my concoctions with you a lot in future posts!
